What is Walking Netball?

Walking netball at Waiuku Netball Centre is all about:

  • Fun
  • Fitness
  • Friendship

Walking netball can be played by all ages and fitness levels, and we encourage everyone to give it a go.

Basic rules

Normal netball rules apply, with some modifications including no running or jumping.

A player must have at least part of one foot in contact with the court at all times.  During the game, an extra step may be taken once a player has received the ball, which reduces the impact on landing and improves player balance and safety.

The score is also not recorded.

A player may throw the ball within four (4) seconds of receiving the ball.  An extra second is allowed to increase the decision-making time whilst in possession of the ball, which should encourage improved ball placement.
