ANZ futureFERNS Years 3&4 (5v5)

2021 Season:  Future Ferns 5v5

Thank you to those people who were able to join us for the zoom discussion around our 6v6 space yesterday.  We appreciate your input and it certainly helps moving forward to this exciting transition phase.  It is important that we align with Netball New Zealand’s ANZ Future Fern programme.  We will trust in the Netball New Zealand programme, which has significant research behind it, and deliver it accordingly.

Following the meeting and feedback, Waiuku Netball Centre will take individual registrations for the 2021 season for our Year 3-4 players to play 5v5 netball.

Registration forms can be distributed by clubs to their Yr3’s and Yr4’s or can be obtained from our website.  This will help with continuity in the future when the children are old enough to play directly for their club.  We will accept registrations throughout the season.

We will endeavour to keep children from the same schools in teams together.  Please note that this will be dependent on numbers.  Players will be placed in their appropriate year level.

  • Games times will be confirmed (dependent on numbers) with the intention of having games played early on Saturday mornings.
  • The season will consist of 12 weeks, run in 3 x 4 week blocks.

Playing days:

  • Block 1: 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th May
  • No play Queens birthday
  • Block 2: 12th, 19th, 26th June, and 3rd of July
  • No play school holidays
  • Block 3: 31st July, 7th, 14th, and 21st August

The last day of netball will be a festival day with a celebration of participation in the Future Ferns programme.

We are looking at the option of having a club representative present to award certificates to participants from their schools/clubs.  Once again, this will help with continuity of belonging to that club in the future.

We will run sessions to upskill potential future coaches.

We are completing costings and also looking at funding to see if we can supply a t-shirt that promotes Waiuku Netball Centre and Future Ferns.  We believe that wearing a branded t-shirt will help players feel like they are playing in a uniform.

 Our philosophy is:

  • A game that grows with the players
  • Providing equal opportunity
  • Having fun
  • Making friendships
  • Being active
  • Developing skills that are age appropriate
  • Giving a safe fun learning environment for all involved

Thank you for your support with this programme.  Please feel free to contact either of us if you have any questions, suggestions, or feedback.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone out on court in 2021!
